Alternative food sources for our future

Imagine a scenario where the area available for food production is decreasing. You are part of a team responsible for the indoor cultivation of algae. Those can be used to produce food. Your task is to optimise the production for these algae and feed your country in your own four walls. Interested? Explore Ecospire!

Goal

This project is about science and how you can save the world. How, you ask? Imagine a scenario where the area available for food production is decreasing. You are part of a team responsible for the indoor cultivation of algae. Those can be used to produce food. Your task is to optimise the production for these algae and feed your country. Take a deep dive in the sience of algae and the related production process. Explore all three research steps in an Augmented Reality environment anywhere you want. Anywhere? Yes! You can use a smartphone or a tablet to enjoy the immersive experience. Our goal is to bring the science into the home of many. With our AR-Adventure you can play with parameters based on real world data to care about your algae and optimise their production.

Story

In our AR-Game environment the “No land”-Scenario takes place. The area available for food production is decreasing. You are part of a team responsible for the indoor cultivation of algae. Therefore, you can experience all three important stages of the research necessary to grow the best algae for your country.

Gameplay

You can manipulate the light-conditions, the temperature, the pH-value and the salinity of the water the algae should grow in. Keep an eye on the status of your plant with your score and the indicator on the floating monitor within all stages. If you want to learn more about the parts needed to do this kind of research, you can click on the small icons with an “i”. Those will open small boxes with text that will let you know more. When you are already an expert on doing research stage one you can go back to the menu and choose another stage by clicking the left or right arrow within the interface. This will navigate you thought all stages needed to do research on algae. If you decided what to see next, simply click on the title between the two arrows and your next level starts immediately.
